Quick start

1. Start WinSitemap.

   

2. Enter information about your site

   

   There are 3 possible sources for sitemap creation:

   • Local directory
     The fastest (less than a minute for 1000 pages). It is good for people who edit their site locally.
   • FTP
     Fast. Just list of files are downloaded so no need to download every file.
     Disadvantage – titles are not recognized.
   • HTTP
     Easy, but slow (depends of your Internet connection speed). Every page will be downloaded from Internet.
3. Wait a for site indexing (if source is local directory than just a few seconds)

   

   You should have something like that

   

4. Drag the pages that you don't want to show in sitemap to “Ignored pages”.

   

5. Assign your rating to the pages clicking at the “Rating” column values (where the stars are)

   

6. If you have FTP-access and have filled settings in site properties then click “Upload” to upload sitemap to your FTP-server.

   

   If you don't have FTP-access then click “Save” to save sitemap at your computer and then upload it to your root directory by yourselves.

7. Click “Submit to Google” to make Google aware about sitemap you have just created.

We suggest you to create your Google account and register your sitemaps there. Then you can track when Google have downloaded your sitemap and check if everything is OK.
